Service and approach
road facilities for Entrance and exit at
the Ghats…
Nashik:
26th August: The arrangements for the First Holy Bath of
the Simhastha Kumbhamela are now complete and the Ghats are in readiness to
welcome devotees at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The service and approach roads
that connect the Ghats will make it easier for entry and exit from the Ghats.
This will also facilitate the devotees to take a holy bath in peace and without
disturbances. The administration has planned the arrangements meticulously.
The Holy Bath during the Simhastha Kumbhamela brings devotees from India and abroad to Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The traditional place for Holy Bath is Ramkund at Nashik and Kushavarta at Trimbakeshwar. In order that the devotees can peacefully take a holy bath without crowding, micro-planned arrangements have been made so that the devotees can take holy bath at seven Ghats at Nashik and three Ghats at Trimbakeshwar. The seven Ramghats at Nashik are Ramkund, Gauri Grounds, Talkuteshwar, Laxminarayan, Takli Sangam, Nandur and Dasak Ghat. The holy bath arrangements at Trimbakeshwar have been made at Ahilya Ghat, Acharya Sri Sri Chand Ghat and Navnath Ghat.
Compared to the Simhastha Kumbhamela
held 12 years ago the length of Ghats at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar has been
increased to a great extent. The Nashik Ghats measuring 1,290 meters earlier
are now 3,990 meters long. The Trimbakeshwar Ghats measuring 200 meters earlier
are now 990 meters in length. This will largely benefit the devotees arriving
for holy bath. Water resources department prepared a draft plan for Rs. 169
Crores for creation of Ghats, Ghat area development, service roads, approach
roads and electrification at the Ghats at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. From this 7
Ghats with a length of 2.6 Kms at Nashik and 5 Ghats with a length of 800
meters at Trimbakeshwar have been newly constructed. All works such as parallel
roads to Ghats, Ramp and approach roads have been completed and these have been
constructed with Waterbound Mechanism (WBM) technology. Special emphasis has
been laid so that the devotees can easily walk and accidents are avoided. With
creation of independent entry and exit facilities for devotees arriving for a
holy bath, the administration has made sure that devotee crowds will be avoided
and incidents such as stampede will not happen.
The concept of construction of Ghats
was new for the Water Resources Department. However the Nashik Central Design
Organisation experts of the Department prepared a design and the same has been
implemented. The engineers strived for excellent quality of work here. The work
was assessed by Quality Control Department as also another authority. The work
of the Ghats has been admired by Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadanavis, Water
Resources Minister and Guardian Minister Mr. Girish Mahajan, Chief Secretary
Mr. Swadhin Kshatriya and others. Superintending Engineer, Water Resources
Department, Mr M. K. Pokale said that his Department was keeping a vigil so
that Godavari water keeps flowing and planning has been done for replacing
water polluted due to different reasons.
With independent routes for devotees
to arrive and exit from the Ghats, service and approach roads connecting Ghats,
ramp and other facilities, the devotees will find the holy bath experience
simpler, easier and happier. Planned to perfection the excellence of
workmanship and stunningly beautiful Ghats at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar has been
a center of attraction for everyone and has brought out the beauty of these
sacred cities.
